Programme Management for Local Authorities

This is a one-day programme for senior officers and managers within a local authority who would like to develop their management practices in the management of programmes as part of their strategy for change within the authority. It will explore the relationships between corporate objectives, strategy, programmes and projects and examine how best to establish and manage an assurance framework which will deliver the benefits they seek to create for their service provision.

  threatening them, adding value, ensuring maximum incremental capability and learning from experience
- Programmes and projects compared
- Governance and Responsibility of programmes and the projects which contribute to them, including sponsorship,
  authority and management
- Programme and project boards
- The programme management life cycle and projects as the delivery of outputs for programme outcomes
- Programme and project assurance and its various components such as risk control adherence to the Business
  Case, meeting/managing user needs, effective communication, stakeholder support and implications of change to
  the external environment
- The adherence to a programme and project assurance framework
- The management of scope creep
